Samsung Rapid Mode Not Supported

Reader Kelly asked Samsung why Rapid mode wasn’t working in Windows 10:

My non-empirical test results tell me Rapid Mode should be on, as long as I have the RAM available to support it as it can suck up to 4GB. Here are the numbers from before and after: These are with Rapid Mode OFF. I captured this while the 2nd test with Rapid Mode on was running which is why you see it sitting at 92%. RAPID mode Limitations 1) RAPID mode accelerates only one SSD even though user has several Samsung SSDs (750 EVO, 850, 850 EVO, 850 PRO, 840 EVO, and 840 PRO regardless of form factor). 2) If there are two identical SSDs connected, RAPID mode may accelerate the incorrect SSD. 3) RAID Mode sets is not supported as an accelerated drive. Download Samsung Magician and then a USB stick, click the “START” button in the bottom left of your screen and type “Samsung Magician” then select the first result. Click the “Secure Erase” tab at the bottom of the window. Click “Browse” and choose the USB drive you will use to create a bootable USB drive. I am not pairing my optane memory with my m.2 boot drive. Just to be clear. It's not a huge issue, but whenever I switch from AHCI to RST w/ optane support, my samsung magician software breaks and says my 970 pro is not supported. I'm still able to boot with my samsung m.2 SSD, in RST w/ optane support mode. If your SSD drive is still not getting recognized by the Samsung Magician utility, continue with the next method below. Method 4: Disabling RAID mode and switching to AHCI. As per various user reports, the issue might also occur if your system has RAID mode enabled from the BIOS settings.

Kelly:
Just an FYI, I contacted Samsung on why Rapid mode doesn’t work with Win 10. I would also like to note some sites are offering mis-information on how to resolve it.
But here’s their official response….

Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Samsung Support regarding your concerns and inquiries. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you.
Magician 4.7 is an intermediary release that contains support the 850 Pro and Evo 2 TB models, patch a secure erase issue, and adds the foundational features for Magician to work with Windows 10 . We do not have an official release date for the Magician and Data Migration to fully work with Windows 10 as of yet. It is extremely important that you do not use any older versions of our software with Windows 10. Do not use Rapid mode as we are still working on how to optimally take advantage of the new RAM management features built into 10. We genuinely appreciate your patience in this matter.
Thank you again for contacting Samsung Support and have a good day.

Well done Kelly!
